15 facts about me

  1. I speak fluent English, Arabic, and French (but my French is shy). I’m also learning Korean

  2. I love Broadway. I can sing all of Hamilton, Waitress, Hadestown, and Six. Oh and 96,000 from In the Heights is my anthem.

  3. I could probably eat chocolate for every meal

  4. I’m Syrian so I will apologize for the mess in my house even if there is no mess

  5. Almost all books I read and own are by BIPOC authors. Support own voices!

  6. I used to be in a dance group, and dance is still my favorite workout

  7. I pick up languages quickly. Just sit me in front of some dramas or send me to a country and I’ll figure out a way to communicate

  8. My writing will always center young Muslim voices (in whatever capacity that may be), whether I’m writing contemporary or fantasy even though that wasn’t the case when I first started.

  9. I’m a firebending Libra who thrives in chaos.

  10. Some of my favorite books: The Poppy War series and anything Elizabeth Acevedo writes.

  11. I’ll listen to American, British, Arabic, French, Korean, Portuguese, etc. music. Literally anything from anywhere that sounds good. Turn up the BTS, Giveon, or throwback Ehab Tawfiq.

  12. Thai tea. Every. Single. Day.

  13. I have a phobia of things that fly (flapping wings are freaky!)

  14. I can’t eat fruit cut by other people (I know its a weird aversion)

  15. I want to climb mountains all over the world, figuratively and literally!

If these facts say anything about me as a writer it’s that my books are random and scattered at times, but always, always offer a glimpse into the larger world around us. There is so much to see and learn and I want to show all of you that through my writing. <3
